BRETHEREN, LET'S BE MASTERS OF OURSELVES

People of God, let me start this piece by sharing with you my experience when one of my children-Demola-was about 5-6years of age. I could mm it get him to get used to saying good morning to us his parent whenever he woke up then. It was frustrating to have to tell the boy to say good morning everyday.
Look at my dillema then, dear reader, (1) Demola was old enough and able to do my bidden. I had, on many occasions, instructed him accordingly (2) It was a good idea but it seemed he could just not get into the habit of saying good morning to us, his parents.
Years later, and also when I was much older, I discovered that the boy's problems then is the same with us - who claim to be christians - these days. Just for a few minutes, think of the things of God told us to do in the bible. For example, in 1 Thessalonians 5:16, we have the following instructions from God.
" Rejoice always " we have been instructed to demonstrate the joy of the Lord. Of course, we all know it is a good idea.
However, brethren, we are not able to make it a habit just Demola, -needed to train himself to say good morning years back. We a look so need to train ourselves to give God thanks, praise and honor in every SITUATION. I hope I am communicating with you dear readers.
Now, think of some of Gods other specific command s. Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lord". Ephesians 5:17 says, " Pray without ceasing" and 1 Peter 1:15-16 instructed us thus, "be holy because He (God) is holy.
Question
Are we taking God's commandments seriously? Are we relying on him for the ability to do what he wants us to do? If our answer is negative, then I implore us to train ourselves yo obey Gods commandments and instruction. We will be the better for it, hu honestly.
Besides,fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord, servant of Christ MUST BE MASTER'S OF THEMSELVES. Good day.
